Clematis 'Mrs. N. Thompson'

  • Large, outfacing, purple flowers with red central bars appear in early summer on old wood, and again in late summer to fall on new growth.
  • Climbing vine (requires support).
  • Can also be allowed to trail along the ground as a groundcover, or over retaining walls.

Fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Sun. Prune back to the highest set of healthy buds in spring. Plant 15cm (6 in.) deeper than pot level and mulch for winter.

Height: 2-3m (6-9 ft.), Spread: 1.2-1.5m (4-5 ft.)
