Codonopsis lanceolata

  • Nodding, bell shaped, greenish flowers with red interiors in summer to fall.
  • Climbing growth habit (requires support).
  • A rare and beautiful perennial whose leaves have an unpleasant scent when crushed.
  • Untested in Alberta; provide winter protection.

Moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Sun to pt. shade.

Height: 1.5m (5 ft.), Spread: 60-90cm (3-4 ft.)

Zone 4/5, possibly hardier.
