Alocasia 'Imperial Red'

• Sometimes called "elephant ears" for its enormous (2 feet + long) leaves on mature plants.
• Arrowhead shaped, glossy green leaves with contrasting pinkish-red petioles.
• Young plants will take several years to reach the full size.

Care:

• Light: Bright, indirect (east or west window). Leaves may scorch if exposed to hot afternoon sun.
• Water: Keep evenly moist, but do not allow the pot to sit in water.
• Fertilizer: Use an all-purpose fertilizer such as Schultz Indoor Plant Food (10-15-10) twice monthly.
• Other tips: Grows best in an undersized pot. Use well-drained potting mix; we recommend Pro-Mix Tropical Plant Mix. Leaf margins may brown under very low humidity; mist frequently or use a humidifier if necessary. Plants may go dormant, dying back to the tuber; allow to rest for 8-12 weeks, then resume watering to encourage re-growth.
