Meconopsis betonicifolia 'Hensol Violet'

  • Rare violet-mauve form of the sought-after Himalayan blue poppy.
  • Large flowers appear in summer atop clumps of fuzzy leaves.
  • Plants behave monocarpic (die after flowering) if allowed to flower the first year buds form, so pinch off flower buds the first year they appear to allow the plant to develop a stronger clump before blooming.

Fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Shade.

Height: 90-120cm (3-4 ft.), Spread: 45-60cm (18-24 in.)
