Dionaea muscipula 'Dente'

• Carnivorous plant whose leaves form clamshell-shaped traps that capture and digest insect prey.
• This cultivar has shorter "teeth" compared to the typical Venus flytrap.
• Forms a miniature rosette; best grown in a sealed terrarium or other enclosure.

Care:

• Light: Bright with some direct sun (east, west, or south window). Extremely hot afternoon sun may cause scorch. Also grows well under LED grow lights.
• Water: Keep the soil wet by placing the pot in a saucer, in water 1/4-1/2" deep. Only use distilled water, reverse osmosis water, or rain water (or clean melted snow). Do not use tap water or bottled spring water.
• Fertilizer: Do not fertilize. Feed the plant once per month during warm weather by placing it outside for several hours to allow it to capture insects (or see our feeding guide).
• Other tips: This plant requires specific growing conditions; please see our carnivorous plant guide here. Keep in a sealed enclosure to ensure 70% or higher humidity. Plants require 3 months of cold winter dormancy; place the pot in a Ziploc bag and into the crisper drawer of the refrigerator. Check at least once per month to ensure the soil does not dry out or become moldy. Use an undersized pot and a mixture of equal parts peat, washed sand, and perlite. Do not use potting mixes that contain fertilizer of any kind.
